Papal Visit to U.S.

Welcome to the United States, Your Holiness!

Pope Benedict will be in the U.S. from April 15 - 21. The theme of his visit, "Christ Our Hope," ties in beautifully with his newest encyclical, Spe Salvi ("Saved in Hope"), which we will begin studying together on April 22nd (see posting below for more info). And isn't the logo above, published by the USCCB and reproduced with their kind permission, striking?

As you know, we have many resources available on the pope and his thought. His recently-published Jesus of Nazareth, in which the pope shows us Jesus as the Son who "lives before the face of God..., in the most intimate unity with the Father," is especially masterful.

For those of you would would like to follow the papal visit online, you can link to the USCCB blog by clicking on the title to this post.

More to follow!

Study Group for Saved in Hope

Now is your chance to "sign up" for our 6-week study group on Benedict XVI's newest encyclical letter, Saved in Hope. This inspirational encyclical explores the concepts of faith-based hope in the New Testament and life of the early Church; eternal life in Christ; the transformation of Christian faith-hope in the modern age; and the "settings" for learning and practicing hope in our own day.

The group will meet Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., beginning April 22nd and extending until May 27th. Those who attended Sr. Susan's first study group on The Sacrament of Charity spoke enthusiastically of the experience. We hope many more will be able join us this time around!

If you are interested in attending, please call Sr. Susan at 650-703-1106 so she can prepare enough accompanying study aids. And don't worry if you can't make all the sessions; come for what will prove to be an engaging and encouraging sharing.
