More speaking engagements...

Yesterday, for the beginning of the Year of St. Paul, Sr. Germana Santos (Sr. Armanda's sister) spoke at all the Masses at St. Leander Parish in San Leandro.

The Masses included a special entrance procession with a beautiful icon of Paul. Copies of the Letters of St. Paul, which we recently published, were available for the people to purchase after Mass. Reading Paul's letters is the best way to understand the Apostle's mind and heart.

Official Website for Year of St. Paul

Here is the link to the official website coming out of the Basilica of St. Paul in Rome (and it's in English--yay!):

Lots of good resources and helpful information here. An interesting bit: what is believed to be the surviving links to St. Paul's chain (worn during his final imprisonment shortly before his martyrdom) are currently on display next to the tomb of the Apostle.

Ah, to be in Rome for the opening of the Pauline Year...!

Where can you find a good biography on Paul? Where else?

Sr. Julia Mary (she of the Best Catholic Books video series that you can watch here on YouTube) has posted a good write-up for a biography on St. Paul we published a couple of years ago, entitled Paul: Least of the Apostles. I can't say it any better than she, so please follow this link to read Sr. Julia's take on the book. Then, of course, you'll want to stop by our Center and pick up a copy of said book for your first great read of the summer.

The Year of St. Paul officially opens this Saturday, June 28th! Can you tell we Daughters of Paul are excited?

Fr. Pettingill's Talks on St. Paul Now Available

We had a nice large group on hand the other evening for Fr. Pettingill's dynamic presentation on Paul the Apostle. It was a great way to begin the Year of Paul!

For those who may be interested, we are able to provide audio CDs of Father's two presentations. Please call 369-4230 for more information.

Sung Novena to St. Paul

Our Sister Anne Joan in Chicago (you can link to her blog here!) has put together a nice video for the novena to St. Paul. This is the novena that we Daughters of St. Paul pray every year before St. Paul's feast. This year, as always, we remember your special intentions in our prayers!

Again, the Year of St. Paul officially opens next Sunday, June 29th.
Praying the novena is a great way to begin this special year in the Church!

Local Marian Author Will Stop by Tomorrow!

Pauline Books & Media is pleased and excited to welcome Ginny Kubitz Moyer, author of the new book Mary and Me, who will be appearing here tomorrow. She will speak about her book to the Pauline Women's Book Club, which meets every other Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. You may have seen the recent article about Ginny, who lives in the S.F. Bay area, in the Catholic San Francisco. As she explains at her website, the book is the fruit of her own interest in learning what Mary means to Catholic women today. The stories and insights she gathered for the book come from women ages twenty-four to ninety-two and are "thought-provoking, enlightening, at times amusing, at times deeply moving."

Copies of the book are available for purchase at our Book Center. Order yours today!
