Fr. Jerry Brown's presentation last Wednesday was wonderful. Father has a positive and engaging style, and it was obvious that he was sharing with us what he himself lives. Fr. Jerry talked a bit about the following supports we have in becoming holy as God is holy:- The word of God
- Weekly/daily Eucharist
- Eucharistic devotion
- The Sacrament of Reconciliation
- Spiritual friends.
By the way, Fr. Jerry recommended one of the books posted on our bookshelf: A New Heart by Bishop Robert Morneau, a good friend of Father's. We carry the book, and it is an excellent collection of reflections on the qualities of holiness. These qualities include purity, humility, love, faith, courage, joy, praise, gratitude, kindness, hospitality and hope. Morneau divides his eleven chapters into highly manageable, seven-day segments and provides reflections and actions for each quality. This is a gem of a book--certainly one to add to your own spiritual bookshelf!
