Faith & Film Lectionary Night: Tender Mercies

Join us tomorrow evening, Friday January 6th, for another evening of entertainment & faith-filled discussion!

We will be gathering at 6:30 p.m. for a movie, followed by a discussion of its themes as they relate to this Sunday's Gospel (Matthew 3:13-17). This is a great way to prepare for the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord!

Our film will be the 1983 release, Tender Mercies, starring Robert Duvall, Tess Harper, Betty Buckley, and Ellen Barkin. The film runs 89 minutes, and is a story of heartfelt conversion. Mac Sledge (Robert Duvall), a washed up country singer who has turned to alcoholism and hit bottom, is given a second chance by a widow (Tess Harper) and her young son. However, elements of Mac's past begin to surface -- will his painful past lead him to an uncertain future, or will he move past sorrow and find the courage to make a fresh new start?
Here's a link to the trailer -- we look forward to seeing you there!
